Peaceful Homeschoolers is an Arizona homeschool
support group serving families in Maricopa County.

Mission Statement:

We are a group that is intent on providing nothing but the utmost
respect and support for homeschooling families through friendship,
information about homeschooling, social gatherings, and educational events.
We welcome all homeschooling families that are willing to be open-minded
and respectful of others, regardless of who they are or what they believe.
We are dedicated to providing support for ALL homeschooling families regardless of race, sexual orientation, family makeup, religion, or homeschooling methods.
In PHS we feel that families should not try to impose their personal beliefs
and values on other families but, instead, accept our differences
with open hearts and minds. These differences help to make our group what it is . . .
a tolerant, safe, nurturing, environment in which our children can learn and grow.

What We Do And What We Provide:
Family, Friends, Functions And Fun!

We have weekly park days on Mondays from 12pm until 3pm from September to mid-May and meet at various places throughout the summer as well.
We meet at Sahuaro Ranch Park (9802 North 59th Avenue Glendale, Arizona 85302), major
cross streets are 59th Ave and Peoria.
We occasionally have events/parties at a different location and we would hate for you to get to the park and not find us there, so please contact Heather Shannon at peacefulhomeschoolersaz@gmail.com before your first visit, just to make sure we will be at the park.
Educational events include a number of field trips and Ponders at the Park.
Our Welcome Back Blast and Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow
parties fall at the beginning of the year and the year end.
Our Brains and Beauty Arts Festival/ Academic Fair and various other holiday parties round out our yearly group functions.  We also celebrate birthdays each month at park!

Joint Management/ Leadership:
We Are All In This Together! /P-a-r-t-i-c-i-p-a-t-i-o-n!

We do not have designated leaders in PHS. All parents/families
of Peaceful Homeschoolers are an equal and vital part making up
the whole of our group.  Coordination meetings at the beginning
of the year provide volunteer opportunities so we can
each do our part to help make our group strong and successful.

We ask that all families contribute the time they can each year so
that the work load remains `family sized'
and does not become overwhelming for any few individuals.

We also have monthly meetings to discuss ideas, upcoming
events and issues each month.  Any votes taken will be decided
by the majority vote present at the meeting and are not to be debated
on the Yahoo. Families will be responsible for their own
monetary portion of yearly events, field trips, parties,
and Ponders at the Park if they choose to attend.

Member Responsibility:
Your Personal Commitment !

Understand that by becoming a member of Peaceful Homeschoolers and participating in PHS group functions and events, you and your children
attend functions at your own risk of any personal injury and damage or loss of personal property. Every member agrees to be responsible for their belongings, themselves, and their children at any and all times.

Code Of Conduct:
R-e-s-p-e-c-t !

In Peaceful Homeschoolers, we ask that every family (both child and parent)
be kind, caring, and considerate of group members
and treat others with the respect that they would, in turn, like to receive.
If conflicts arise between children or parents, they should be handled on a
parent to parent level, until said conflict is resolved.  Since all families do
have equal status, no family shall be asked to leave the group.

How To Become A Member:
Learn, Grow And Play With Us !

Membership is open to all families that have read, agree with,
and will uphold the Peaceful HomeSchoolers Mission Statement,
Member Responsibilities, and Code of Conduct.
Peaceful HomeSchoolers does not require any yearly membership fee.

Benefits Of Membership:
Give A Little, Get A Lot !

Benefits of membership include Support, Support, Support!
We work together to create a beautiful yearbook with member made family
pages and pages of all the year's events for purchase at the end of the year.

Our scheduled functions include the following parties:
Welcome Back Blast (September), Halloween Treat (October),
Wishing for Winter in Arizona (December), Love is in the Air (February),
Spring is Sprung (March), and Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow (May).
Brains and Beauty is our end of year Arts Festival and Academic Fair,
and is usually held in April.  Ponders at the Park are educational speakers
providing informational presentations at our very own Monday park days.
These may include: Artapalooza, Mad Science, and Point in Time.
As members, we also have the opportunity to receive discounted
rates on these events in addition to coordinated field trips.

Yahoo Group:
Let's Chat !

We have a Yahoo  Group that we use for our group calendar and
communication between our active members;
whether for a question about what math curriculum to use,
discussing the next PHS event, or to ask for support.
We do require that you and your children attend 2 park days before allowing membership on the Yahoo Group for privacy and safety reasons.

For the same reasons, if any family that has been added
to the Yahoo! Group disappears for a month, meaning no phone contact,
no Yahoo! contact, no email and no park attendance,
they will be contacted by email to see how they are doing
and if they plan on coming back.  No response will result in removal
from the Yahoo! group.  They can always request to be added
again if they decide to come back to the group at a later time
and it is not a removal from PHS itself, just from the Yahoo! Group.

Please click HERE to go to our Yahoo Group and request membership.
We look forward to meeting you!
