Linguistically, PBI sounds and looks similar to FBI, Federal Bureau of Investigation. They are, however, unrelated institutionally.
PBI, standing for Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris (Penbagris) or English Language Education (Englangtion), is one of the undergraduate study programmes of the Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) of Sanata Dharma University (USD) Yogyakarta, Indonesia. PBI has been officially around since 1 September 1965.
The primary target of PBI is to educate and prepare its students (PBI-ers) to equip themselves with a strong command of English to become quality teachers, educators, instructors, and language programme managers and designers, for instance. The realization of this main objective is part of the implementation of its unofficial, polysemous slogan, which has been formulated as follows:
