PBIS Resources...

The National Center for PBIS's complete 'BluePrint' for implementation can be viewed by clicking HERE

These links should provide lots of great information about Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports -- Getting Started, FAQs, Examples, & Training.

There are links to more specific sites on each of the PBIS 299 pages!

If you are just getting started with School-Wide PBIS, the OSEP/PBIS site provides a great beginning. Once on the site, go to the Online Library, click Past Conference Presentations. Look for "Just getting started...?" There you will find five PowerPoint presentations on the PBIS basics.

You can walk yourself or your whole staff through an entire PBIS Training Series by downloading the PowerPoints from the OnLine Modules page of Florida's PBS site.

Here's a book recommended to me by Lafayette's Principal, Trisha Shrode:

The Educator's Guide to Solving Common Behavior Problems

by Raymond J. Waller

Her recommendation was spot on -- read it!

 NEW RESOURCE:

  • Your CPS' Office of Special Education and Supports now has a web site that both explains what they offer for pro-active supports (CHAMPS, PBIS, etc.) and lists all the professional development available to you and your school. Check it out at CPS-OSES.
  • There are loads of PBIS documents including lesson plans on the "doc-search-engine."
  • NEW RESOURCE: Here's an interesting site with more than a few insights and strategies: The Cornerstone for Teachers
  •
  • Most of us work in diverse (in so many ways!) schools, classrooms, and communities. Let's all start using "People First" Language (from Disabilityisnatural.com). Then, let's work on ways to help others celebrate rather than denegrate differences. Speak Up! is a great place to start.
