Professor Williams specializes in conflict resolution, contemporary peace operations, theories of international security, Africa's international relations, and British foreign policy. Details about his publications in these areas can be accessed here. He currently serves on the editorial boards of the journals, African Affairs and Global Responsibility to Protect.
Professor Williams' research has been funded by the UK's Economic and Social Research Council, the British Academy, and the Australian Research Council.
