These are samples of avatars I created from original photos (often poor quality) supplied by clients. They are all vastly superior to the avatar these wonderful folks had before.
Digital cameras record a lot more "information" than film; therefore a shot you might think "no good" can often be not only saved, but greatly improved. My techniques include but are not limited to proper gamma (different from brightness), contrast, chromatic aberration removal, anisotropic smoothing & intelligent denoising, unsharp masking, perspective correction, removal of "noisy or extraneous objects," color / hue correction, proper centering & cropping, and unusual frames & borders which enhance the photo within a "timeline."
