Paula de Beer: A semi-short history Paula decided to go for a career in modeling instead of going to school. She likes going to clubs and having a good time. She hates politics. Paula fondly remembers the days when she had a little puppy dog. Paula began playing the piano when she was a child, but never considered it as a serious career move until a photographer heard her playing backstange at a shoot, and suggested she record her music. Researching her options in an internet music forum brought her to the attention of singer Loretta Schneider and guitarist Leslie Brodie and the three decided to form a new band based out of London - thus Lovely Monkey was born. Paula has always been keenly interested in high finance, and began her corporate career as the CEO of Wrong Trousers Studio in London. Personal differences between Paula and the owner's fiancee led to her departure from the studio, and Lovely Monkey's signing with UMRK Studios. Paula's success as a pop princess with Lovely Monkey provided her with the capital to open the De Beer corporation, starting with one heavy metal club in Amsterdam. What started with that one club grew to worldwide chains of both metal and classical clubs of the highest quality. The Damned and the De Beer Arts Centers were respected for their attention to the needs of the artists and quick responses to requests. After some years of success with The Damned, Paula sold the entire chain for a healthy profit in order to focus solely on investing in the development of the Classical genre worldwide. Lovely Monkey came to an end after a successful rise into the Top 10 of pop music and along with fellow Monkey Loretta Schneider and Jay Bacon, former member of The Perfects, formed Within Attraction, a hugely popular jazz trio that recently won the Popofest preliminaries in Rome with their first perfect show. Paula was recently selected to become Treasurer for her beloved home town of Amsterdam, and under her management, the city has transformed itself into a growing, bustling and vibrant metropolis. Since she began working for the city, it's popolation has grown by nearly thirty percent thanks to her careful management of the Doe's health, mood and wages. She has added two hospitals, several clubs and a gym to the city's locales; she has campaigned successfully for Doe tax reform (adding hundreds of thousands of dollars of lost revenue to the city's budget each week); she has worked with Mayor Pablo Buijing to lower salary taxes by ten percent even while increasing tax revenues by twenty percent (and that's not including the lost Doe tax revenue). Paula is also Senior Editor of It's Pop magazine. Hand picked by Mark Pedersen to fill in for him on the English editions in his absence, she has now become the driving force behind the renaissance of the reporting of the weekly news. Paula's vision for the future of the magazine can be seen not only in the new About It's Pop guidelines that she crafted soon after taking the job, but also in her choices of skilled editors who assist her in reviewing and publishing the submitted articles each week. Paula's personal life has always been something of a soap opera - being around Miss De Beer is never dull. Labeled "Bitch Monkey" by her half-joking band mates, Paula never quite manages to distance her business persona from her stage presence or even her personal life. Paula is very thankful for friends who keep her in check... Paula can often be found wandering around her adopted hometown of London, usually in the company of her cocker spaniel Sprinkle. Her private life isn't much of a secret to her fans, but she does value her private time with the lovely Miss V, her lover for the past couple years. No one is quite sure what drew these two together, but there is no doubt that these two opposites attracted strongly... |
