The Art of David Alan Pattison

    Artist Bio:

David Alan Pattison first connected with ceramic art through the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana and it’s many influential Master Ceramic Artists such as Dave Shaner, Ken Ferguson, Peter Voulkos and Rudy Autio. These Master Clay Artists inspired David’s life long love of ceramic art and he followed that muse by studying art at: Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio; The University of Montana where he received a BFA degree; further study at The University of Alaska at Fairbanks and Maharishi Univerisity of Management in Fairfield, Iowa.

With other college degrees in Social Work and Business Administration, most of David’s employment has been in the field of Human Services. When the opportunity arises he enjoys sharing his love of ceramics through instruction. He taught art in Bethel, Alaska in the Junior and Senior High School as well as ceramics at the Kuskokwim Community College.

His work is shown locally in the Olympia area and regionally. Pieces have been accepted into juried art shows through the Olympia Art League, and the South Puget Sound Community College annual juried art show.

A long time friend of Rudy Autio, Dave hopes that Rudy's positive influence on Contempory Ceramic Art and painting will continue.

David’s work is considered to be competitive in the arena of contemporary ceramic sculpture.
