Welcome to Patrick Leoni's homepage

I am an Associate Professor in Finance at Euromed Management (France), after holding research positions in Zurich, Venice and Dublin.

My research focuses on two distinct issues. The first issue is about beliefs and learning effects on asset pricing, in particular at macro-economic level. The second issue is about designing and pricing new classes of derivatives, with a strong emphasis on health economics. I have been involved in the last few years in projects related to HIV/AIDS economic policies, and the design of derivatives  to hedge against mortality risk.

I occasionally write columns in Irish newspapers, and I also do some consulting in finance when time allows.

You can find a link to my book about HIV/AIDS, which deals with the financial aspects of the international campaigns to eradicate the disease. The point is to to optimize public interventions in situations of severe budget shortfalls, through the creation of synthetic insurance schemes for instance. The book is often out-of-print, although the Publisher tends to react quickly.

My Ph.D. thesis has also been printed as a book, dealing for most of it with behavioral finance in a broad sense. It is available at this link, as long as you don't mind about reading few hundred pages of equations.
