12 November 2008

Gosh, I've missed a lot of big updates here.  The New Hawaii map was released months ago to great success.  I've made a few updates to LIL'CRaMP.  I've done a few other paints and even a few other big map projects.  It is 8 days past the big election here in the US.  Anyone who visits YSP will know what side I was on.  The amazing thing is that the sky did not fall, the sky is still blue, and the average temperature of Earth has continued its cooling trend for another week.  This was, indeed, a historic election, where our first bi-racial candidate recieved a majority of the popular vote.  Now we must look to December and the actual election through the vote of the electoral college.  We can only hope President Obama has real ideas beyond hoping for good things to happen.

With that said, I am out of ideas for new maps!  It has been months since I got a request, which led directly to one of my maps.  I completed my Southern Ohio project, but that was from a request that was over a year old.  I don't know what to do now, but I'm considering St. Martin Island.  I know there are a couple others already out there, but someone suggested I put my own spin on the island.  We shall see.

19 July 2008

I've made significant progress on the Hawaii map.  I've got 13 airports completed and so far I've not had much trouble with frame rates on my laptop.

9 July 2008

I released Malta today, and have started work on my next map, Project: Hawaii.  I'm starting with a blank screen and creating a new map.  This will not be a repaint of the stock map.  I'm going to do all the airports as accurately as possible.  This will not be a super-detailed map, either, since I suspect some people may use it for their server.

7 July 2008

Project: Rowe was released a couple of weeks ago.  Another large project that I put together with the help of several YSP members was LIL'CRaMP, which was a repaint pack of civilian aircraft from GAC.  My next project is Malta.  I've been thinking about this for a while, but decided to make this map after someone else made a Malta map.

12 May 2008

After completing Columbus, I decided to make a map of the Dayton, Ohio area.  It was released earlier today.  My next map is going to be Project: Rowe.  This will be the area around the Bering Sea of Alaska.  I've also decided to help put together a GAC repaint pack, and have several paints I want to do.

19 April 2008

I have just started my newest map, Project: Columbus, OH.  I've got the runways completed for Rickenbacker International Airport, and plan to have the airport completed today.  I also updated the WESTTENN and DREAMLAND maps to have improved polygons for faster loading, or something like that.

17 April 2008

Since we don't have a 737-200 yet, I decided to put the Janet paint on hold.  I released my Dreamland map and added it and the WEST TENN map to the pack with an updated ground pack.

13 April 2008

I have finally released the WEST TENN map, although it is not yet added to the map pack.  There is a new version of the ground objects pack also available for individual download.  I have updated the aircraft pack with the improved Blue Rapture F-22 and Thunderbird YF-17, along with a pack of GAC Bonanza repaints.  I'm nearly finished with the new "Dreamland" Area 51 map.  I have most of it done, but I want to wait until I do a "Janet" B737 paint.

8 April 2008

I have not had a chance to package the West Tenn map yet, nor have I got the updated YF-17 packaged.

4 April 2008

Recently I modified a GAC F-18 to the smaller YF-17 in USAF Thunderbirds colors.  It is in the aircraft pack now, but I will be updating it with an F-22 dat in the next few hours.  I've also finished the WEST TN map, which now includes all known airports Tennessee between the Mississippi and Tennessee Rivers.  There are few elevation grid buildings in this version, as they have mostly been replaced by stock or original ground objects.  I will be packaging the map for release in the next few hours.  My next project will be an improved version of the NNL map, which I will probably call Dreamland.

21 March 2008

I have the base map for the West Tenn map almost complete, with road networks for Memphis, Lexington, and some rural areas.  I am going to add more to the area where I live, including my own house and a lot of other houses.  I will also need to do extensive work to a few of the maps to bring them up to my new standards.  CLICK HERE to see a screenshot of the map in its current condition.  I added I-40 and some of the major highways in the area.

19 March 2008

I have started on the new version of West Tennessee.  This version will be called West Tenn.  I have completed the Mississippi and Tennessee rivers.  I am still searching for a good map that has the other rivers because most of what I have found left off some of the rivers I feel are too important to ignore.  In other news, I am working on a self-made air show of two planes at Point Mugu.  I plan to make it a monthly series.  I plan for the next show to be at Everett Stewart Airport in Union City, TN, using the new West Tenn map.  For that reason, I'll be completing that area first.

14 March 2008

With the release of Uldlaklunde, I have updated the map pack.  I have started looking for good maps with river systems and major highways for the West Tennessee area, and I plan to start on that soon.

12 March 2008

I just released a Type 6 Shuttlecraft and a pack of GAC Cessna 182 repaints.  I'm really happy with the CAP repaint because it looks so much like the real CAP cessnas.  I have a few things I want to do to the fictional map and I will update the map pack.

3 March 2008

I released Monument Valley last night.  I am nearly finished with my fictional map.  When it is released, I have decided that my next map will be Project: West Tennessee Revisited.  I will be giving my previous airports an overhaul with stock and my own ground objects, and place them in an entirely new map of West Tennessee.  The new version is going to look very different from the first version I put out nearly 1 year ago.  I hope to have it ready by the end of the month.  This version will have improved ground and water areas, as well as more realistic roads in Memphis, Jackson, and a few small towns around the area.

1 March 2008

I finished Project: SOCAL nearly 1 month ago, but I have waited to release it until today.  Project: Item 8, A.K.A. Monument Valley, is coming along pretty quickly.  I am going to add a few small settlements and roads, and about 2 more mountain areas, and it will be done.

Point Mugu and Southern California are both available as individual downloads now, but I am going to wait until I complete Monument valley before I add these new maps to the map pack.  That should be within the next few days.

13 February 2008

I have started work on a map of Monument Valley.  The area I am working on is not extremely huge, and will include two villages and a small air strip.  Most of the map will be landscape work, such as the famous monuments.  I will be making two versions: A realistic version, and a version with Van Nuys airport and a hollow mountain for the Airwolf lair.

10 February 2008

I've received a lot of requests to release my maps in .zip format instead of .rar.  Half of my maps are in .rar format because it maximizes compression and reduces file size.  I decided that I will also include them all in a single download in .zip format to make it easier to use for the few people who have not been totally enlightened about the wonders of .rar format.

9 February 2008

I released my first original aircraft.  It is modeled after a runabout from Star Trek.

30 January 2008

I have forgotten to update the news section for several months.  Since September I have completed the National Commuter Airlines fleet and worked on other addons.  Right now I am working on a digital camo paint for the GAC F-22 and a map of Southern California that is taking me a lot longer than I expected.  The reason it is taking so long is the side projects I did, such as the heavy modifications I did on the GAC Humvee.

3 September 2007

The Hanger page now holds the fleet for the N&C Airlines, the new NCA.

 10 August 2007

I put together a really plain set of passenger jets and fighters, labeled the NCA Fleet and NCA-WD Fleet.  The fit well with the NCA.  Planes that aren't that great for a airline and squad that is even worse.

6 August 2007

I got bored and tried painting some planes.

28 July 2007

After completion of both international airports, and painting of 85% of the islands/atolls, I realized that most of the islands are not heavily developed.  The Northern area will be where the airports are concentrated.  The Southern area will be used for enemy fleet movement, and possibly some form of naval battle area.

26 July 2007

After several false starts, my new project has begun.  I am working on a map of the Fiji islands.  This will be a return to large maps.

17 July 2007

Today, a rare event took place.  I completed, packaged, and uploaded the Gulf Coast map 24 hours ahead of schedule.  Updates are likely, judging by previous map releases, but I doubt there will be any serious changes.

12 July 2007

The new site is now 90% operational.  All of my officially released maps and my current test maps are available for download.  I will be adding screenshots to the downloads page, and a link to the NCA forum in the link bar.

I have made a deadline for myself.  The Gulf Coast map is scheduled for official release on 18 July 2007.  I only have 2 air fields left to make.  I also have some work to do on the road network, some extra buildings, and some ground work around Fort Morgan, which is in bad need of some grass.

11 July 2007

Today is a big day.  I created a new home for NeoCon's Maps.  Obviously, it is still under construction.
