Preposition Poems

prep-o-si-tion- A word such as "with" or "on" that  shows the relation of a noun or pronoun to other items in   a sentence as "The book with the red cover is on the table."  The assignment was to practice using prepositions to  describe some of our daily travels, resulting in some "moving" poems.

After school

At three o’clock

To the farm

With my family

To feed the horses

Past the bus stop

Open the door

To the food

To feed the horses

To do my job.

Julia

At the Zoo

To the lion’s cage

Up on my dad’s head

Up in the air

Off of the ground

To see the Lions better

Now to the Zebra’s pen

Up in the air again

Up on my dad’s head

To see the Zebras

Back on the ground again

For the Zoo is closing.

Sleeping

Up at night

Out of bed

Down the stairs

To the kitchen

For a midnight snack

Up the stairs back

In bed

To sleep

To dream sweetly

Out of my mind

By magic.

Into the car

Down the hill

Across the street to the right lane

Between two other cars

At the window looking

At the world

Around me

Toward a traffic light

Over a bump

During a light snow

To the school parking lot one minute

before the 8:15 bell.

Down the hallway

To my class

Talking about things going on

To gym class we go

In a line

Between two other people

With talking among us

During gym we go running

Across the gym floor all

In the morning.

Breana

Into the car

Before Christmas Eve

Off to grandmother’s house

Around the corner

Down the street

Nearing grandmother’s house

Up the steps

After presents

After feasting

After the hugs and kisses

Away we go to the barn again.

After school

Inside my house

With loads of homework

Near dinner time

Under the water in my bath

Down in the depth of my covers

Into my wonder of dreams

I wake up to go to school.

Cassidy

Out of the classroom

Down the hallway

To the right

To gym

To do jumping jacks, stretching and games

For exercise

To get in shape

Before time runs out.

After we get in class

To play hockey with screaming kids

In line then

Back to class.

Madison

Trampoline

To the door

Into my shoes

Out the door

Through the garage

Around the corner

Through the yard

Toward the trampoline

Out of my shoes

Onto the trampoline to jump

Through the zipper-door in the net

Up I jump

Over and over I jump

Toward the sky

After I’m done

Before it’s dinnertime

Inside my house

Down the stairs

In the basement I’ll stay.

Alex

Up from the desk

Into line

Down the hall

Into the principal’s office

Off to sleep

Waiting in the hall

In trouble again

For sleeping in the hall

In the principal’s office

After I’m done in her office

In detention

For a week

For me.

Trae

Up in the morning

To the closet

To get dressed.

Out the door

Into the snow

To the barn.

Through the barn

To the feed box

Into the stalls

Between the horses, cows and sheep.

Up to the loft

To play basketball.

Back to the house for chocolate

To the living room, on the couch

Up again and through the door

With my brother

To go sleigh riding.
