Athlete Testimonials

“It was the most impactful money I've spent on the sport...and I'm not a new triathlete. I've been in the sport since the early 90's. They could double their price and I'd still make that statement.”

Ron Gierut, Finding Freestyle Member since Fall 2010.

    About the Finding Freestyle Team

Robert Burgholzer - rburghol@vt.edu - Has been coaching competitive swimming for 25 years, working at all levels: young age-groupers, high school, masters and college.  During this time he has coached numerous nationally ranked swimmers, U.S. Olympic trials qualifiers, a member of the U.S. Open water national team, and swimmers with top-50 world rankings.  He has competed in the U.S. Open water 25km champs as a competitor and as a coach.  Robert developed his ideas on passive technique as a result of his own investigations and from working with some of the most successful coaches in the U.S. -- the Finding Freestyle program evolved over the last several years as the culmination of those experiences.  Currently, he coaches the Finding Freestyle classes in Richmond Virginia.

David Luscan  - cveluscan@gmail.com  - David Luscan began participating in endurance sports at a young age, and soon found he was hard-wired for multisport racing since birth. David began swimming at age 9 in the USS age group program, through two years each of NCAA Div. 3 swimming and Div. 1 water polo. Raced a triathlon in 1988 at age 16, did his 2nd in 2004 at age 32 and finally got hooked. He has competed in running, triathlons and bike racing as a self-coached age grouper for last 6 years with increasing success. A former high school swimming coach, since turning his attention to professional endurance and multisport coaching, he has helped a variety of athletes pursue and achieve their goals across a spectrum of unique situations and motivations. Currently or previously holds certifications from USA triathlon, USA cycling and the FIST bike fitting system.
