 Dear Parkwood Families,

Please remember our ongoing fundraisers. We need to send in our Box Tops for Education and Labels for Education. Many products you buy at the store participat. Please save the tags or labels and turn them in before February 25 so we can process them and have them in by the March 1 deadline for Box Tops for Education. If you miss the deadline, turn them in anyways. We will send them in the fall. We have a special collection box in the front lobby of the school to collect them. We also collect empty Capri Sun Pouches in a special bin at the front labeled for the pouches.*

Attention Target cardholders!

Did you know that Target contributes 1% of REDcard purchases to education? This is a great opportunity to raise funds for Parkwood, but it is vastly underutilized, as only 30 cardholders are currently linked. To sign up for the Take Charge of Education program, visit Target.com/tcoe, or call 1-800-316-6142.

Harris Teeter and Food Lion Cards?

Please also link your grocery shopping savers cards. For Harris Teeter VIC cards, you can go here: http://www.harristeeter.com/community/together_in_education/link_to_your_school.aspx

For Food Lion MVP cards, the School Code is 214027. You can register your card online if you have a web account (http://www.foodlionmvprewards.com/classroom_rewards/home.php) or just in the store by asking at the front desk. Call 877-614-6877 if you have questions.

If you are a Kroger customer, they link to our PTA directly through any Labels for Education you buy, so make sure you link your card to Parkwood. Their number for Policy Inquiry is 800-576-4377.

Please get those Box Tops and Labels for Education in this week! We will make around $1000 from these programs this year that will go directly back to the school!! The grade that raises the most money will be recognized in our next newsletter.

Sincerely,

Will Mackin, PTA President

*We do not collect the Aluminum pop-tops for 12-oz beverage cans. Those should be left on the cans and recycled in the normal recycling bin because they are not worth anything more than other aluminum and PTA earns nothing from those tops. If they are put into the box, we have to remove them and recycle them ourselves.

Meet Our New Parkwood PTA Board

posted Sep 14, 2011 1:37 PM by Parkwood Elementary PTA   [ updated Sep 14, 2011 1:46 PM ]

We had a nice meeting on Thursday, September 8 where we installed a new Vice President (Past President Terri Barber) and Secretary (Johanna Brown). We have filled two of three seats on our Audit Committee (Ramsy Boland and Michelle Beatty), three seats on our nominating committee (Terri Barber, Cathy Emrick, and Bill Williams), and four seats on our advocacy committee (Amy Black, Ann Wilson, David Young, and Raychelle Baptist).

We will need to have special election for Treasurer, as we have two nominees, Ms. Terreca Ettson, the serving treasurer from 2010-2011 and Mr. Brannon Bollinger, a PTA member at large. The date for that election will be announced as soon as we can agree on a date.

Thanks to everyone who turned out for the meeting. The minutes from our meeting, our 2010-2011 Financial Report and 2011-2012 proposed budget are attached. Please contact use if you have questions about the budget or minutes from the meeting.
