Parkview Varsity Boys Head Coach
Coach Steve Richardson returns as the Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach after a successful previous career as the Varsity Boys Head Coach here at Parkview. His overall varsity record at Parkview is 238-127 (.652 = 17 wins per year).
His teams have won five invitational tournament championships, four Sub-region championships, two Region Championships and played in two State Tournaments.
During a three-year span (1991-1994), Coach Richardson’s teams won 75 games.
Coach Richardson’s 1991-92 team was ranked #1 in Georgia’s largest classification at the end of the regular season and won the Sub-region and Region Championships. That squad advanced to the State Tournament quarterfinals, finishing with a 27-2 record. He was named the Region Boys Coach of the Year.
His 1993-94 team won the Sub-region and Region Championships and made it to the State Final Four. That club finished with a 25-6 record. He was named the Region Boys Coach of the Year.
Prior to coming to Parkview, Coach Richardson was the Redan Varsity Girls Head coach for two years, posting a 15-32 record.
Coach Richardson is in his thirtieth year teaching high school language arts, the last twenty-eight years at Parkview.
His wife, Jean, recently retired after teaching high school math for thirty-one years. Their oldest son, Rob, graduated from Parkview and teaches sixth grade science at Chamblee Middle School. Their youngest son, Tom, also graduated from Parkview and is a senior at Georgia Southern University.
