NAHI JNANENA SADRUSHAM
"PARISHODHANA 2013"
Workshop on Research Methodology and Research Statistics
26th, 27th and 28th September 2013
Research is all about eliminating the chances of missing truth.
Albert Einstein
Research science is the basic science of all sciences. It is a complex enterprise but inevitable for the existence and progress of science. Research has greatly contributed to the growth of medical science including dental science. As practitioners of health sciences, we apply the research findings in our routine clinical practice. It is not sufficient for academicians and students to simply practice science; rather they should generate scientific knowledge by conducting quality research.
Quality research is not an accident. Doing and reporting quality research is possible when one has in-depth knowledge of research methodology and research statistics. Unfortunately, not much emphasis is placed on learning these skills by postgraduate students of medicine and dentistry in our country. Although doing and reporting dissertation research has been made mandatory to obtain postgraduate degree, the whole process at times is made to look mechanical. As a result of this the emerging dental professionals, although good clinicians, may turn out as poor researchers. This is precisely the reason why contribution of India to international health research is less than substantial. Keeping in view that medicine and dentistry requires not only good clinicians, but also versatile researchers, “Parishodhana - 2013” - a Workshop is crafted to provide the required knowledge and skills of research methodology and research statistics to the participants.
