Classroom Fees Help

Each year Homeroom Parents collect class fees from their homeroom to help cover the cost of various homeroom activities. Below is a copy/paste example letter written by Staci Frazior that you can edit to fit your needs. Also attached is a PDF version showing her original formatting. Thanks to Staci for sharing this with us! Here are her notes on how to use the letter:

NOTES:

Outside envelope - put label with the child's name and a "deliver to your parents" comment. Inside - stuff the letter and another envelope folded up with a label on it that has YOUR child's name on it and "return to Jane Smith by October 15, 2008."

This has given me 100% participation every year since 2nd grade.  On the same day I send the letters home, I send the letter via e-mail to the parents and ask them to watch for it.

Each time we spend funds, I sent the parents a note stating how much was spent and for what purpose.  At the end of the year, I send a recap on an Excel spreadsheet with any balance or underage noted - if we have left over, we donate it.

EXAMPLE LETTER:

Dear Families,

We have such a GREAT class this year!  What a dynamic group of kids!  And we are very lucky to have such a talented teacher in Mrs. Roberts!

We are very excited to be your homeroom parents this year and we are looking forward to

  • fun holiday parties
  • participating in the Arts & World Showcase by creating a class art piece
  • a school fundraiser
  • the Spring Fling
  • recognizing Mrs. Roberts on holidays, her birthday (which was September 16), for Teacher Appreciation Week in May, and with a special end-of-the year gift

But, it takes cash to fund all these activities!  We are asking each family to send a check for $35.00 payable to Staci Frazior by October 15th.   Please send a check to school with your child in envelope provided.

We purchased a “class” gift for Mrs. Roberts on her birthday –she is a UA graduate and we got her a cute pair of Hogs margarita glasses just in time for the first Razorback game.

Mrs. Roberts has a wish list!  Please help by donating one or more of the following items:

  • Polaroid Film
  • Grab-bag goodies (pencils, yo-yos, bubbles, stickers, etc.)
  • books for our classroom library
  • a bean bag chair
  • games
  • bags of individually wrapped candy
  • 20 small dry erase boards
  • dictionaries
  • floor puzzles
  • age appropriate books on tape for the listening center

We are looking forward to a great year!  If you have questions or comments, please contact us!

****SAVE THE DATES! Our carpool dates are Nov. 20-21 and May 21-35****

With kindest regards,
