Mwedje is born from a dream to create harmony between man and nature in an exclusive hideaway - a one of a kind eco-sensitive lodge, crafted to complement its surroundings enabling guests to luxuriate in solitude and reconnect with nature. The lodge will be something far from the ordinary, offering an experience that only money can buy - a true chance to feel time stand still. Mwedje is the local Ndau dialect word for "moonlight", reflecting the beauty of the moonrises over the Bazaruto Archipelago.

 

Set in 1.2ha dotted with old-growth Msasa trees and beautiful Ilala palms secluded cabanas will nestle among the trees, with rustling palm fronds and lapping of the sea the only noises to disturb guests. With 60m of prime beach front, and uninterrupted Indian Ocean views overlooking the Bazaruto Archipelago, the lodge provides is designed to provide irresistible seclusion and privacy. Guests will find themselves a short stroll across Mwedje's garden to the vast expanse of Inhassoro's beach, with stunning views of the Paradise Island and Bartolomeu Dias headland.

 

The main lodge is designed to encompass four exclusive, sea-facing cabanas. Each double room will have an en-suite bathroom with shower, and a private balcony for secluded dining and from which to enjoy magnificent sunsets and moonrises, offering guests the epitome of self-contained privacy and sheer luxury.

 

Cabanas are to be hand-crafted from FSC certified timber produced in Mozambique and furnished with luxurious locally manufactured, FSC-certified hardwood furniture making them stylish and comfortable examples of rustic chic. (Learn more about FSC)

 

Should the urge arise for guests to venture beyond their private retreat they can be welcomed in the lodge’s well-appointed dining venue. Public areas comprise a reception, restaurant / entertainment area, and guest parking.

 

The lodge is to be fully equiped with staff accommodation and the necessary support infrastructure including kitchen, laundry, and self-contained water and electricity supply each developed in keeping with the exclusive nature of the lodge.
