Each is stripped of all the bark from the sticks using a draw knife, then over 2 to 3 days they are sanded to a fine smooth finish. Each stick is then stained, mostly using a dark Walnut stain which brings out the detail in the grain, then varnished with regular varnish. A rubber tip is attached to the ends to protect both the environment and the stick. Bill also attach a leather thong to the grip of each hiking staff. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ |
