About Me: I am a San Diego based playwright and high school teacher. I've grown up in Spain, the United States, and Colombia, and as an adult, have lived in Washington D.C, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, and Japan. I attended George Mason University in Fairfax, VA for my B.A. in English, minor in Theatre, and Marymount University in Arlington, VA for my M.A. in Secondary Education. I am very interested in psychology, art, women's issues, religion, European history, and group dynamics. In addition to playwriting, I also act, and sometimes direct. My dream is to travel the world, do lots of theatre, read many books, meet many people, learn many things, and bring a little happiness here and there.
About My Writing: Many of my plays deal with the phenomena of "charismatic personalities" and the influence they exert on the people around them, to the point that, their reality becomes the group's reality. Their truth, the only truth. The power of charisma incites transformation within individuals, communities, and society, but can often blur the lines between good and evil.
I also would like to point out how "Irony" has taken over much of contemporary drama. Its so deeply entrenched we don't recongnize it anymore. A change of direction towards meaningfulness and sincerity, particularly in relationships (aka "love") would be a nice.
