Golden sands blue waters pantai Teluk Dalam
| Pulau Pangkor , the most famous of Manjung's holiday spots with its clean sandy beaches and clear waters has a land area of only 8 square kilometers and a population of about 30,000. Teluk Nipah and Coral Bay on the north west of the Island with their beautiful beaches are popular with backpackers from Europe. While basic holiday accomodation in the form of Malay styled wooden chalets are common in the beaches , modern luxury beach resorts are also found in Pantai Teluk Dalam 3 km from Teluk Nipah and in 5 star World famous Pangkor Laut Resort on an island just opposite Pulau Pangkor. Accessible easily from Lumut jetty by ferry it is only a 25 minutes ride in air con comfort. The island is normally packed during weekends and public holidays with local holiday makers. Historically, Pangkor was a refuge for local fishermen, merchants and pirates. In fact even In the 17th century, the Dutch had already built a fort in an effort to control the Perak tin trade. The ruins of this fort is one of the many tourist attractions on the island. Today Pulau Pangkor is mainly promoted by the Perak State Tourism authorities as a budget tourist destination although fishing and fish products continue to be the major industries. ............................................... |
