Garden of the Heart Sufi Circle Ongoing Events


Dances of Universal Peace

When:    1st, 3rd, and 5th  Sundays of each month,  7:00–9:00 PM.

Where:    Humboldt Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (HUUF), 

on Jacoby Creek Road, 0.7 miles east of Old Arcata Road – look 

on the right side of the road for a large dirt parking lot and several 

large buildings. Follow the blue signs.

A $5 donation is requested to cover the dance room rental.

 

Zikr

When:    1st Thursdays, 7:30 PM

    NOTE: There will be no zikr in August

Where:    Latif and Pegeen’s house, 1124 A Street, Arcata.

Sufi Teachings

When:    2nd and 4th Thursdays, 7:30 PM

    NOTE: There will be no Sufi teachings May 24, or during August.

Where:    Latif and Pegeen’s house, 1124 A Street, Arcata.

Sufi Teachings consist of readings and practices from the tradition of 

Hazrat Inayat Khan, the man who brought Sufism to the West in the early 1900s.

Humboldt Sufi Choir

When:    1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesdays, 5:30–6:30 PM

    NOTE: We may be taking the summer off, so please contact 

                Adrianne Werren (442-5002) for further notice.

Where:    Social Hall, Immanuel Lutheran Church, corner of Chester and Harrison, Eureka.

No need to read music, as all is taught in the oral tradition. All are welcome.


Healing Circle

When:     Wednesdays, 8:00–9:00 PM

Where:    Aslan’s home, 2466 Russell Street, Eureka.

Ziraat gatherings: Nature-focused spiritual ritual and practice

Next Event: Saturday, June 23, 10-11 AM, at the Arcata Marsh. 
    Meet at the first parking spot in the Arcata Marsh.
    The Marsh access road is the extension of "I" Street, to the west of Alliance Rd.
    Park at the first turnout, on the left, where the road first bends hard to the right, 
    just before that bend. There is a trailhead here.  Walk toward the Bay, on the trail 
    to the far right, for about 300' and look to the right, toward the Bay. We'll be there.



24th annual Labor Day Weekend Sufi Campout


"Opening to the Mystery"


August 31–September 3


At Pamplin Grove on the Van Duzen River at Pamplin Grove, Humboldt County.


The gathering begins with Shabbat and dances on Friday, Saturday morning meditation at the river, 

then sacred dance, Sufi Sesshin, and Zikr. We continue through Sunday, greeting the four directions, 

sharing Universal Worship, hanging out at the river, walking in the redwoods, 

working with the sacred manuscript of nature (Ziraat). 

On the last night (Sunday), we will join in a talent show and storytelling with our children.

Miscellaneous Information

Child Care at the Dances: At the moment, there is no separate room/space for the
children. We ask that parents work out a system of supervision for them. If you would
like us to rent an extra room for the children, please contact Ananda.
Children are always welcome in the dances under the guidance of the people who
brought them.

Fee Assistance: As a part of our service to local Sufi community members, we offer
fee assistance to help cover some of the cost of attending local or more-distant Sufi
camps and events. If you feel that you could use and might qualify for assistance, then
please contact either Len/Sherdyl (845-3395), Munira (445-0668) or Ananda (826-7575).
If you would like to contribute to this fund to help make this possible, please give your 
donation to one of the dance leaders and request that it be earmarked for the scholarship fund.
