General Announcements for Algebra II Students

General Announcements for Parents

  • Grade sheets go out every 3 weeks.  You should discuss this sheet with your child and address any concerns.  If there are questions, you and your child should develop a plan that would help you child get their concerns addressed.  Try to resist you taking control first and contacting me.  We want you child to develop this important step toward adulthood.
  • Homework is assigned nightly with few exceptions.  This homework should be completed in pencil.  Make sure that your child is showing their work.  Rarely, will I be able to offer full credit for answers only.
  • Encourage your child to do their own work and discourage cheating.  Explain that copying homework is cheating themselves of valuable knowledge.  In fact, it is better to bring their partial attempt to class with a question written on it.  Upon arriving to class, the student can get their group members to help them or me.  Also encourage them to check out appropriate websites (see student link) to assist them in their struggles with the assignment.
  • Please know that I am available before school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Wednesday or Thursday afternoon.  To know specific day and times, check my weekly announcements.
  • Encourage your child to re-work problems from tests and homework assignments which they missed or had trouble understanding.  If they still have questions, encourage them to seek help during class.
  • When your child is absent, remind them to get make-up work if it was not posted on-line.   Help them develop a plan to get these assignments turned in to me in a timely manner.  By board policy, to make up work, students have the number of days in which they were absent plus one.
