Stuart R Paddock PTA

President's Message

Look out Spring…here we come!

We will head into Spring, whether mother nature thinks it is still winter, or not…and the PTA will forge ahead with a number of activities to kick off the warmer weather that is bound to show up sooner or later.

With only about 2 full months of school left in this year, we start to look back at what has worked for us this year, and what has not.  We had a number of really great things this year we would like to highlight before the year ends:

  • Our Fall Fundraising Dinner/Auction raised over $11,000 for the PTA , therefore eliminating the need for catalog or wrapping paper sales by students.
  • The addition of Family Movie Nights was a huge success and provided two free events to Paddock families.
  • The PTA successfully acquired a state Proclamation for Bullying Prevention Awareness Week which earned Paddock recognition both locally and at the state level and raised awareness about the problems bullying causes.
  • The PTA established an electronic communication system to better serve PTA members and distribute information more cost effectively and efficiently.
  • The PTA (with the help of NWCH) hosted a Family Fitness Fair to promote better health among our Paddock population.
  • The PTA Reflections program produced the highest number of Paddock entries for our school and our highest ever, number of entries to advance to the state level of judging!
  • The PTA hosted the first ever vendor fair in conjunction with the Holiday Arts and Crafts Event and found it to be hugely successful.

With such a successful year, it seems difficult to top as we plan for next year, but we have started planning for the 2009-2010 school year already – hard to believe, I know.  To make sure you are all in the loop, we will present all the new  ideas, and plans for the next year, to the general membership at our next meeting, meant for ALL PTA members, on April 29, at 6:15pm.   We certainly hope you will make every effort to come to the meeting to vote on the PTA officers for next year as well as the event plans that will be presented for approval.

Know that going into next year we plan to take into account the economic issues that affect so many families in our very own community due to the US economic downfall in the past months.  We want to make it financially feasible for everyone to attend functions, participate in events and support the PTA.

As we come closer to the end of our Amazing RACE we realize we have not yet hit the finish line…but we certainly feel like we are leading the pack and look forward to holding the stride that we have maintained throughout the year to help us finish strong!
