Welcome to the 'People at Centre Stage: Re-Writing Community Aged Care' research project. The People at Centre Stage (PACS) project seeks to develop, pilot and evaluate an innovative model of community aged care that allows care recipients and their families to exercise greater choice and control over the services they receive, fostering their autonomy and independence.
Over the next two years we will work with older people in the eastern region of Melbourne to develop new and improved ways of supporting people in the community.
This project is being conducted by UnitingCare Community Options and the Deakin University School of Nursing in partnership with a number of other peak bodies and providers. These include Alzheimer's Australia Victoria, the Brotherhood of St Laurence, Carers Victoria, Council on the Ageing, and Uniting Aged Care.
Funding for the project has been provided by the Australian Research Council, the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust, and through the Perpetual Trustees, from the Percy Baxter Charitable Trust, the B B Hutchings Bequest and the John William Fleming Trust.
