New for 2011-2012, all Tiger Parents are required to have Youth Protection Training (YPT). The Certificate is valid for 2 years. This is a requirement for the annual Recharter process, which is the process for registering Pack 699 with BSA.
New Users - Directions to take Youth Protection Training
If you aren't sure whether you took the training recently, or if you can't remember your login, it is OK to start as a new user.
1. Go to http://www.MyScouting.org
2. You do not need a BSA Member ID to proceed with registration and take the training. You can associate the training with your BSA Member ID later (see below)
3. Click Create an account under New to MyScouting. Use valid information.
4. MyScouting will send you an e-mail. Click the verification link. Enter your password.
5. Take the training under eLearning > Youth Protection
6. District Letter: When you are prompted to select your district to see a letter from your district leader, don't view the letter, and continue to print your certificate. Enter Pack 699 as your District number. If the training video starts over, you don't have to watch it again - see the directions below to 'Print your YPT Certificate if you already took the Training'. (Note to advanced users: the district letter opens in a popup window, and it can make it difficult to print the YPT Certificate.) 7. Print your certificate and give it to the Recharter Representative, Matt Parry at recharter@pack699.org
8. Add your membership ID number - see directions below
Returning Users - Directions to take Youth Protection Training 1. Login to MyScouting.org
2. Take the training under eLearning > Youth Protection
3. Add your membership ID number - see directions below Get your BSA Member ID If you already took YPT, but you didn't enter your BSA Member ID at the time, you will need to add your BSA member ID to your profile. Ask your Pack Recharter Representative, Matt Parry at recharter@pack699.org, to get this from either the Internet Advancement System, or the Internet Recharter System. The BSA Member ID is also called the Person ID in these systems.
Add your BSA member ID to your Profile
Go to MyScouting.org > Login > My Profile > Update my profile > Under Membership info enter the Member ID & Click Add.
Print your YPT Certificate if you already took the Training Login to www.MyScouting.org > Training > eLearning > General > View Certificate. If you can't login to MyScouting.org, then you will have to create a new profile at myscouting.org and re-take the training. Recharter Committee Information
Directions to Validate Training for any Adult
If your MyScouting profile permits, you can verify the Training status of any Adult by BSA Member ID. There is also a search by username, Name, and Location. Login to www.MyScouting.org > Unit Tools tab > Training > Training Validation > Search, e.g. by Member ID. New Registered Adult
For the Recharter process, any adult who is a "new" Registered Adult will need an actual printout of the YPT Certificate. A printout of the Training Validation (see Directions to Validate Training... above) is not acceptable. A "new" Registered Adult is anyone who is not in the Recharter Database. This can be for an adult who registered late, e.g. in October, or due to an error in the Recharter Database.
YPT Flag for a Registered Adult
Each Registered Adult will need the YPT training to be associated with their MyScouting profile for the same BSA Member ID that they are listed under. Adults often have multiple BSA member IDs, which can occur if they complete multiple Adult Applications during different years. It appears to take 1 day (overnight) for the MyScouting.org database to migrate data to be available for the Recharter database. Then, to refresh the YPT flag in the Internet Recharter System, go to 2. Update Roster > Step 2 of 6 > Click the Update Roster button.
