News:
Seabrook, August 21st (2010): Pack 389's 1st Learn to Fish Event was held on Saturday, August 21st at Miramar and Pine Gully Parks and it was a GREAT SUCCESS!!!! Approximately 50 people turned out for the event -- including 30 kids. All the Scouts present earned their Fishing Belt Loop and a number of Scouts caught their 1st Fish -- Awesome!!!
Many Thanks to the 8 TPWD Volunteer Angler Instructors who came out and volunteered to teach the course -- We couldn't have done it without you. The Course consisted of 5 stations where the kids learned about fishing, followed by fishing at the Pine Gully Pier. The 5 stations taught the kids about: Casting; Knot Tying; Basic Tackle; Rules and Ethics; and Fish Identification and Habitat.
Look for the next event in October. We'll be doing a workshop on Flounder fishing -- just in time for Flounder season in November. |
