Cub Scout Pack 389 serves Seabrook, El Lago, Nassau Bay, and Taylor Lake Village.

Boy Scouts of America program promotes leadership, character development, citizenship and fitness for boys and their families.

For almost a century the Boy Scouts of America made it its mission to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. As the school year begins, local Scout units will host neighborhood Scout Nights to introduce boys and their parents to the Cub Scout program. Activities emphasize character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.

Boy Scouts of America celebrated 100 years in February 2010. The Scouting program was established by a congressional charter to educate and prepare young people for life. The program helps parents and educators reinforce the necessary learning to lead an active and productive life in the community. More on the Scout Oath and Law can be found at www.samhoustonbsa.org

Pack 389 is in the Bayshore District of the Sam Houston Area Council (SHAC).  Our 40+ Cub Scouts primarily come from Seabrook, El Lago, Nassau Bay, and Taylor Lake Village.

Scouting for Food - February 4, 2012

Scouting for Food in Seabrook and El Lago
Saturday, February 4th

Our Scouts are participating in the annual Scouting for Food drive this winter. The 2012 food drive will take place on two consecutive Saturdays. On Saturday, January 28th, Scouts will place door hangers throughout Seabrook and El Lago. The following Saturday, February 4th, Scouts will return to pick up the donated food items.

This year the Scouts hope to match or better the success of last year’s food drive. This year the food pantries are looking for protein food such as canned tuna, peanut butter, or canned ravioli.

Learn About Cub Scouting

What is Cub Scouting?
If you are a boy in first grade through fifth grade—or you’re 7 to 10 years old—then Cub Scouting is for you. It’s for your family, too. This is the first and the biggest of the three Scouting programs (Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, and Venturing) from the Boy Scouts of America.

Cub Scouts belong to dens and packs.

Every Cub Scout is a member of a Cub Scout pack. A pack is a large group of boys.  The pack is divided into smaller groups called dens. Each den has about six to eight boys. All of the Cub Scouts in a den are about the same age.

Cub Scouts do things and go places.

Cub Scouting means “doing.” You have lots to do as a Cub Scout—crafts, games, sports, songs, stories, and puzzles, to name a few things. Much of the fun happens right in the den and pack. The den usually 2-3 times per month, and the pack meets once a month.  Cub Scouts also go to events like the annual Blue and Gold Banquet, field contests, and derbies such as the Pinewood Derby. They go on field trips. They go camping and have other kinds of outdoor adventures. They take part in community events. Cub Scouts do all sorts of exciting stuff!
