Pinewood Derby 2012







Racers, start your engines! (Or rather start building your cars). Please review the rules and note the important dates and information below.

Cars: Each boy gets one car kit, paid for by the Pack.  These were distributed at the Pack Meeting / Holiday Party on December 12th. If your son did not get one, his Den Leader should have one held for him.

Theme: This year there is no coordinated theme. But be very creative – there will still be a Den award in addition to the individual with the most creative design.

Participation: We want everyone to join the fun! Don’t forget, there are spirit points for the den with the highest percentage Thursday check-in.

Parent/Sibling Race: Anyone can join in for this non-regulated* event while we wait for the final results of the Derby.  Cars can be purchased from Lance Read for $4. *Exceptionally heavy or highly irregular cars may not be allowed if there is a risk of damaging the track.

Dinner / BBQ: Drinks and cookies will be provided, but not a meal.  Pack 33 families and friends are welcome to place orders for Boy Scout Troop 33 BBQ plates to be delivered Friday before the race starts.  See the order form for details.

General Help: Each den/patrol is responsible for setting up or running a particular station. Your Den or Patrol Leader will be getting details to you about where your help is needed to run this event.

**Parent Volunteers Needed: There are several key roles with the Derby that do not require a big time commitment (assembling the track, purchasing supplies, taking BBQ orders, running the computer, …more). Let your den leader know if you would like help. Very easy way to participate in Pack 33!

 

Monday, Jan 30th: Last chance to turn in your order form for BBQ dinner, to be delivered at the Derby.

Thursday Feb 2nd, between 6:30 - 8:00 pm: Have your car inspected, give it a trial run, and check it in. First come first choice for your very own Pinewood Derby Driver’s License!

Friday Feb 3rd, 5:30 pm: Class A Uniforms. . BBQ will be ready at approximately 5:30 pm. Check-in stops promptly at 6:15 pm so we can start the race by 6:30 pm.
