Another Akela Cub Campout is almost here! This weekend,
we take to the woods for fun and games at Camp Osborn again! This
year's Akela Cub looks to be a blast, as the program will focus on
having fun, and not just earning beltloops. Also remember that dinner will be served Friday night at the Dining Hall.
At the Pack Meeting last night, we inducted 10 new Bobcats! Way to go, guys!
Don't forget, popcorn orders and money are due October 19! Fill up those forms to get your marshmallow blaster!!
See you at Osborn!

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day holiday! We've got a bunch of exciting events coming up in the next two months, so it's important to come to all the regular Den meetings so you don't miss out!
Our first Pack Meeting went well. We were able to award some late-season ranks from last year, and some of the newest Bobcats of the new Scouting year! These guys are really setting the bar high for the rest of the Pack. We tried something new for this Pack Meeting - having the individual Dens sit together -- more on this will be revealed that the next Pack Meeting.
Don't forget! We have a new Class B T-shirt design for this year!! The shirts are $10 each, and we need to get them ordered as soon as possible if we want to have them in time for our Fall activities. Order forms are with each Den's leader. Because these are custom made just for us, payment is due in advance. Camp Credit may also be used, if desired.
Popcorn Kick-Off is just around the corner. Selling popcorn is a great and easy way to build up Camp Credit, and help the Pack!
Yours In Scouting, Cubmaster Chet

Welcome back!! I hope everyone had a terrific summer, and is ready to get back to Cub Scouts!
Regular meetings resume on Monday August 10th at 6:30pm at the Methodist Church. Our first meeting will be getting everyone settled in their new dens and talking about the exciting year ahead. We'll be using a newly developed advancement tool called Fast Tracks. It is designed to get every boy to their goal rank (Wolf, Bear, etc.) by February. We're very excited about it, as it will make advancement more steady and more predictable.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone Monday night! Bring friends to share the fun of Cub Scouting!

As the school year draws to a close, remember that the Scouting year continues on, although at a more leisurely pace...
This Saturday, we make our annual visit to Andersonville Memorial Historic Site and Cemetery. In this moving tribute to those who gave their lives to provide for our freedom, we place flags on headstones of thousands of soldiers' graves. Scouts of all kinds and ages come from all over the southeast to participate in this event. It is incredibly moving to see thousands of American flags waving proudly in salute to the fallen.
As a sign of respect, as each flag is placed, the Scout is to come to attention, say the soldier's name, then salute slowly.
We are meeting at the church at 7:30am on Saturday morning, leaving promptly at 7:45am. Driving directions are available in the Documents section.
The south Georgia clay can be quite hard, so bringing a battery-powered power drill with a large bit can make the job easier of placing the flags. After all the flags are placed, there is a cookout with hot dogs, etc, to enjoy, a short hike from the cemetery.
We hope to see you there!

We had a great year-ending Pack Meeting Monday night! We awarded Tiger, Wolf, and Bear badges, and then they crossed over to their next ranks. We should be posting pictures soon. If you took a great photo, email it to us, and we'll post it!
Summer activities are as detailed in my last post.
The brochure for Cub Day Camp is available on the Council Website, and also in our Documents section. You'll also find the required official BSA Personal Health and Medical Record form there.
Have a great summer everyone! Hope to see y'all lots this summer!
