The HTML project is intended to provide instruction in website development, and a way to participate in the development of one of the club's most valuable communication resources: its website. Members can take pride in imagining, creating, and publishing documents that can be viewed from any computer, nearly anywhere in the world.
This is an introductory, learn-by-doing course which will attempt to familiarize members with a broad range of topics, covering the major elements that are seen on most web pages. They will learn how beautiful web pages can be created with nothing more than a simple text editor. Independent project mentoring would be available for members that take a deeper interest in computers and website development. At the first meeting of 2006-2007, members will be encouraged to pick an area of the website they would like to develop (for example, a web page describing one of the other projects they are participating in). Members will use their individual (or group, if they prefer) assignments to apply the following lessons over the year, building from simple to more elaborate web functionality into their pages.
