In this project are taught all aspects of dairy goatmanship: the anatomy and biology of the goat, general health, management, breeding and showing.
In addition to the regular meetings, there are, throughout the year, several events to further learning and participation such as UC Davis Goat Day and the county-wide Large Animal Challenge. There are also 3 or 4 goat shows throughout the year which are close by and are a lot of fun to attend. The San Mateo County Fair, held in August of each year, is the most fun! There, old friends are met and new ones made. Everyone works and plays hard for those 10 days and it is always an unforgettably great time for all who participate. The Pacifica 4H club has typically been quite well represented each year at the Fair. Many ribbons and rosettes have been won and these are all due to a great job done! Resources |
