Tiananmen 天安门

Stepping  foot  on  the Tian'anmen Square  was   quite   an    unbelievable   experience not only for me but  also for  the   rest    of  our  travel  group.   One thing  I  can say is that the place is  really huge!  No wonder it is the  largest  square  in  the  world  in the sense      that      it      can       accomodate thousands of people.    Lucky  thing  i t was not   that  crowded  when  we  were touring around.

Of course,    everyone    took    the  chance
to    take    as    many   pictures   as    he/she
could,   and  I  was  one  of  those  who   took
bunch     of     pictures.     The    square      is
surrounded        by        tall     and  humungus
structures         such         as     the    Chinese
P a r l i a m e n t a r y    B u i l d i n g.     Mao Zedong's    portrait     is    pretty    visible   at the   Tian'anmen   Square    leading    to    the Forbidden City.       The   picture   shows      a gigantic   structure   that   used  to  be one of the Forbidden City's gates.
The place was  crowded with both tourists and local residents.  In fact, I was surprised to see that the place was  overall  clean and not  smoggy  as  I   had  expected.    People everywhere were  enjoying themselves  and were   also   busy   taking   pictures,     not showing  any  sign  of  awareness about the  history  behind   the  Tian'anmen  Square--the  event  that  will  always remind  us  of  the  Chinese  public's voice for democracy.
