The gallery on 8th Porya St. Tel Aviv, was established in 2008 as a cooperative gallery, and was named P8.
The space, was previously known as "Artopia," which was indicative of its intent to be a good home for art; Artopia functioned as Ora Ruven's  studio, who frequently invited artist-friends to present short exhibitions alongside her work.

With time, this lead to the forming of a group of artists that presented in Artopia exhibitions while utilizing personal recourses as curating, production, and promotion, in full collaboration.

The thought of the power of the synergy is at the heart of this groups' approach, and stimulates it to promote and progress within the artistic sphere. Naturally, the sole use of personal resources dictates sophisticated and humble conduct, along with constant search for other modes of action and collaborations that will be beneficial to everyone.

The new name – P8 art gallery – expresses the space's transformation to a fully functional collective gallery that will exhibit the group's art alongside artists and curators who are not members of the group.

       The gallery seeks to collaborate with abroad institutions,

         artists and groups, and can offer:

         5 days residence accommodation,

         P8 space for an exhibition and PR in Israel.

The members of the group are Roy Yariv ,Carmela Weiss, Dan allon, Costa Magarakis, Gilad Lavi, Rinat Schnadower and Ora Ruven.

 

עם הזמן הביא מהלך זה להתגבשות קבוצת אמנים שהעלתה בארטופיה תערוכות תוך שימוש במשאבים עצמיים כאוצרות, הפקה, ויחסי ציבור, כל זאת בשיתוף פעולה מלא.

המחשבה על כוחה של הסינרגיה עומדת בבסיס גישה זו של חברי הקבוצה, ומדרבנת אותה לקדם ולהתקדם במרחב האמנות. כמובן שהשימוש במשאבים עצמיים בלבד מכתיב התנהלות מתוחכמת וצנועה וחיפוש אחר עוד ועוד דרכי פעולה ושיתופי פעולה המועילים לכולם השם החדש - P8, מבטא את המעבר של המקום לתפקוד מלא של גלריה שתציג אמנות של חברי הקבוצה וגם של אמנים ואוצרים שאינם חברי הקבוצה.
