Dear Members,

Trust you all had an enjoyable summer and are looking forward to OM’s 75th Season! Your Program committee has a very nice line-up for the year and we are most excited to inform you that  THREE MEN & A TENOR!! are coming in March to perform for our Benefit Concert!!! Many thanks to Cheryl Gapinski for arranging such a coup for us. And our Christmas ‘Benefit Concert is scheduled for December 4, and brother and sister Dennis and Danielle Eilert will perform on cello and harp along with the Owosso High School Madrigals and Joe Darnell, baritone.

The October Past Presidents’ Tea will open our year on Monday, October 10th at Noon, at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 Goodhue. Patricia Smith, violinist, string instructor, and Director of the Shiawassee String Orchestra, will present the program! November 14, American Music Month and Federation Day, will feature Nick Frederick, our high school Music Award winner and multi talented student, performing on piano and dulcimer. And there is much more!

The Yearbooks will be given out at the October meeting and please be prepared to pay your dues at that time...if you have not done so already. It is still $20 for Active Members, $30 for Family & Associate members with Patron status at $40. Cheryl Gapinski, treasurer will gladly accept dues any time now. Donna Benson, Tea Chair Co-ordinator, has set up chairmen and committes for the year. If you cannot fulfill your assignment please let your chairman know and together you can find someone to switch months with you. (The Tea chairman checks with all chairmen to assign them their month, but it would be too much of a hassle for her to contact each person assigned to a committee.)

This year, in order to attract working members, we are planning an evening program for May 10. This will be a dinner followed by a program with David Troiano, tenor, accompanied by Patrick Johnson on the piano. David performed here in Owosso years ago at the Victorian Splendor at the request of Albert Fillmore. He travels a round with his program of American music presenting  a variety of 18th century thru the 20th crowd pleasers. He said he has a lot of fun stories and would also sing a few of Albert’s songs.

I do hope you are all looking forward to another exciting year in music. We, the Board members and I, look forward to seeing all of you on October 10! Thanks to all the Program committee members for all their good work!    “Music keeps all of us forever young!!”
