WE ARE 100 YEARS OLD!
In the summer of 1909, the country was shocked by the account of the race riots at
Springfield, Illinois.  A mob containing many of the town’s best citizens raged for two days, and in its wake scores of blacks were killed or wounded.  The NAACP was formed as a result of the atrocities committed during the riots.  Well, that was 100 years ago, and the NAACP is still vigorously fighting for equality for minorities and other disenfranchised people.

I'd be remiss in my duties as president if I did not make a statement regarding the selection of the first African-American candidate for the President of the United States of America.  I’m not sure what all I’m feeling, but I know pride is at the top of the list.  We as Americans should be proud that in a nation once segregated, and stifled by discrimination, we facilitated the rise of a person of color within striking distance of the highest office in our land.  We should also be proud that the job of president is no longer gender specific.   Regardless of what your party affiliation is or where your support rests; in our time we have witnessed history.  God Bless the United States of America.
