Welcome to the Olivenhain 4-H Dog Care and Training Project web site. The Dog Project is one of many projects offered to members of the Olivenhain Valley 4-H Club. If you are new to 4-H, you may want to visit our club's web site first in order to familiarize yourself with all that 4-H has to offer. Projects are selected by youth members each 4-H calendar year. This web site is specific to the Dog Care and Training Project and is addressed to those enrolled through the Olivenhain Valley 4-H Club. Since we are a large group and 4-H is an all-volunteer organization, we hope that members and their parents will use the General Information section to familiarize themselves with the Dog Project goals, how the project operates, and what the policies are. This will cut down on the number of questions Leaders are asked during meetings, thus allowing the full meeting time to be spent on the kids. Additionally, we hope that youth members will participate in providing content to the Members section; share a photo of your dog or project dog, tell about a recent dog adventure, rave about your experience at a local dog show, etc. Kids, this is your section, so let us know what you'd like to see there and we will add it. Finally, Leader Resources can be used by the project's Junior and Teen Leaders. Last year's Teen Leader, currently residing in Belgium, has graciously and enthusiastically agreed to upload everything she's developed with Judy over the years. Her work, supplemented by ideas and activities developed by Judy and our current Junior and Teen Leaders will serve as a means to not have to "recreate the wheel" each year. It takes many hours on the part of the Leaders to put on each monthly meeting. This database of tried-and-true activities, including instructions and necessary hand-outs, will allow everyone to have a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The Olivenhain Valley 4-H Dog Project is a part of the Olivenhain Valley 4-H Club Serving youth ages 5 through 18 in the Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Rancho Santa Fe Area Olivenhain Valley 4-H Club :: San Diego County 4-H Extension :: California 4-H :: National 4-H |
