Why 'Out The Boat'?

out (prep.)used as a function word to indicate an outward movement
v. - 2: to identify publicly as being such secretly[1]
boatn.1a: - a small vessel for travel on water
b: ship[2]
2a: a spiritual state or place of insecurity and fear
b: spiritual comfort zone[3]

In the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the fourth use of the word "ministry" is defined as, "a person or thing through which something is accomplished: AGENCY, INSTRUMENTALITY."[4] We believe this to be true in the sense that every individual has a story that plays a unique role in God's creation. Out The Boat Ministries aims to serve as a prophetic catalyst to help young people discover and operate in their God-given individualities.

To be clear, the purpose of Out The Boat Ministries, Inc. is not to force any belief system upon anyone.  In fact, we believe that God's love is powerful enough on its own, and that we are merely vessels through which His love flows.

"Writing The Vision"
-A Message from the Founder

At the age of 10, I began having recurring dreams about opening up my home to youth who needed a place of refuge. In 2005, I began my ministry training with an assignment to read If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat by John Ortberg. Reading this book inspired me to acknowledge my fears and to seek God's will for my call to ministry. Self-reflection led me back to my dreams and I began writing down my ideas. After many months of writing, dreaming, and praying, an outline for the new ministry was born.

In March 2007, inspired by Ortberg's lessons and keeping in the spirit of leaving one's comfort zone, I decided to call this ministry Out The Boat. Our goal is for all associated with this ministry to point out their "boats", then to get out of those boats and pursue God's purpose in their lives.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about Out The Boat Ministries, Inc.  Please come back often and tell others about us!
