PASSING OF AN OLD RESIDENT. A very old Bundaberg identity passed away yesterday in the General Hospital in the person of Mr Berthelsen, who many years ago was in business as a tailor in Bourbon-street. He had reached the ripe age of 77 years, and his death was not unexpected. He is mourned by a family of five daughters and two sons, all married and comfortably settled in life, namely Mrs C.W. Pollitt, Barolin Road, Mrs W. Curtis, Brisbane, Mrs J.J. Jackson, Brisbane, Mrs F. Chenery, Brisbane, Mr George Berthelsen, Brisbane, Mr Alfred Berthelsen, Africa and Mrs L. P-etersen, East Bundaberg. The funeral arrangements are entrusted to Messrs F.C. Brown and Co and the cortege will move at 2.30 o'clock this afternoon from the residence of his son-in-law, and daughter, Mr and Mrs C.W. Pollitt, for the General Cemetery. With sincere thanks to all the support from Dr David Crook and the Green Island Medical Centre, Mosgiel Central Pharmacy, the District Nursing staff and the Otago Community Hospice. Loved and loving wife of Ian, loved stepmother of Carey and Leanne, Peter and Leanne, Jason and Jeanette, and Genny, and step grandmother to their children. A service for Davena will be held in Campbell and Sons Chapel, 95 Gordon Road, Mosgiel on Monday, February 12 at 1:30pm followed by internment in the Green Park Cemetery.

Mr John Sutherland STORRIE, a colonist of 50 years standing and a very old district resident, he having settled in the Gooburrum many years ago, passed away somewhat suddenly on Wednesday a the Hospital, where he was admitted the previous day in a state of collapse. Mr Storrie, who was 75 years of age was in town on Monday last, apparently in the enjoyment of his customary robust health, consequently the news of his death came as a shock to the community. He leaves a grown up family of nine children--his wife having pre-deceased him some three years ago--to mourn their loss, and deep sympathy will be felt for them in their bereavement. Death was due to perontinitis. The funeral yesterday was largely attended. (Source unrecorded)
