This site features my photographs of butterflies of the Ottawa-Gatineau region of Canada. Most of these species can be found throughout Eastern Ontario and West Quebec.
The list of local species is derived from a number of sources listed on the references page.
Although this website can be used as an aid to butterfly identification, it is not intended as a replacement for a comprehensive field guide ( see references ). Some species are variable, and can be difficult to distinguish from their close relatives (especially in photographs).
This site is not sponsored by or affiliated with any particular organization. It's just a showcase of my photographs. However, I did have help (see Acknowledgements ).
This is a work in progress, and will be updated as I get new and better images.
