Protest Action

 Rosebank Home and Hospital

Notice to union organisers, delegates, activists and members

Protest Action about Rosebank Home and Hospital

Monday 23 February from  12 noon to 1.00pm

New Zealand Nurse Organisation members at Rosebank and supporters will be picketing the Offices of Stuart Leck on the Corner of Colombo and Armagh Streets on Monday 23  February from 12 noon to 1.00pm

Stuart Leck owns Rosebank Residential Home Limited through Lexson Investment Limited of which Stuart appears to be the sole share holder. Rosebank is an aged care facility in Ashburton.

Members of New Zealand Nurses Organisation initiated bargaining for their Collective Agreement March last year. No progress has been made. In fact, the employer has reduced his offer to zero with a term from ratification and a vague undertaking to speak with members about increases in July. This would mean a two year period with no increases in an Aged Care Facility which is already paying less that the other Ashburton facilities.

Stuart has also spoken of reducing staffing at Rosebank in order to pay for increases in rate. Members are not prepared to sacrifice their residents for a pay increase. They need to be valued. Government funding has increased by 2.8% and this will be topped up shortly to 3.3%. Stuart has also increased fees to residents. NZNO does not accept his claim that he cannot afford to pay a decent increase this year.

Because of their commitment to care delivery, rather than hold industrial action at this stage they will be holding the protest on Monday outside the Forsyth Barr Building.

Your support would be welcome, come along and support your fellow workers and NZNO members outside Stuart’s Office Monday 23  February from 12 noon to 1.00pm

Stuart has an office in the Forsyth Barr Building Corner of Colombo and Armagh Street opposite Victoria Square.
