Ormskirk Honey in West Lancashire

Fresh local honey from our hives

One of our bees at work during March

We are a family-based producer and supplier of fine quality honey, candles, soap and wax blocks.

Our small apiary is located in Ormskirk, West Lancashire, an area famous for its historic market held twice a week and its church that boasts a spire and a tower.

Our bees forage on the diverse range of flowers, plants and trees found in the gardens, parks, farm land and hedgerows of Ormskirk and the surrounding area. The honey they produce can vary according to the flowers and plants in season and the area from which the bees collect the nectar. In the summer our bees forage on local crops as well as wild and cultivated flowers in parks and gardens.

As we are a small concern we can only produce limited amounts of the products we offer and this is all subject to the bees and weather conditions. As a result, crops can often vary so please contact us to find out about current availability and stock levels.

All the products we sell have either been made by the bees or ourselves. We sell them at local fairs and events and to a growing list of web and email contacts.

We are members of Ormskirk and Croston Beekeepers and the British Beekeepers' Association (BBKA) and have been keeping bees for over 10 years having started with one hive and a lot of enthusiasm. Our interest in beekeeping has developed over the years, largely generated by widespread and increasing media coverage of a range of environmental concerns including climate change, biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation. But as well as the mounting concerns to combat climate change and to preserve environmental habitats and biodiversity we are also increasingly concerned about the manner in which food is grown, distributed and sold and recognise the value of artisan production methods.

A few pages about honey bees. At the moment there are links to beekeeping suppliers that we've put together for our reference. We've also put together a list of beekeeping books that we've either read reviews of or own ourselves.
