2007

Lauren MacGregor (13) was chosen for May’s award because of the dedication and commitment that she had shown throughout the winter in both competition and training. Lauren won the Chingford League and was chosen to represent her county on several occasions. Lauren also won three Essex medals. Lauren represented Essex in the English Schools Cross Country Championships.

 

Nikkita Sartori-Sigrist (12) was chosen for June’s award because of the way that after recovering from injury she dedicated herself to her training which culminated in her winning two Essex gold medals in the 70M Hurdles. Nikkita was selected to represent Essex in the forthcoming South of England Track & Field Championship. It was also felt that Nikkita was particularly supportive to new members.

 

Diheema Rose(15) was chosen for July award because of the

 

Commitment showed to training and competition in her various disciplines of sprinting, long jump and triple jump. Also taken her Children in Athletics coaching badge which allows her to pass her skills on to younger athletes.

Alvin Bombo (15) was chosen for August award because of his;


Commitment, professionalism and for showing appreciation for his coaches. Alvin also took his Children in Athletics coaching badge.

Natalie Kipps(19) was chosen for Septembers award because of her

 

Dedication to improving her results by upping her training which culminated in an Essex selection. Natalie also provides coaching to younger athletes.

Teresa Conway (18) was chosen for October award because

 

Every week she coaches a group of U11's and takes responsibility for planning and executing the session. Also for her all round responsibility in regard to other athletes.

For use in her session: Small hurdles, 4 new sets of cones, 6 indoor shot puts.

 

Rory Van Horn (18) was chosen for Novembers award because

 

Increased training and improved performance. Attained Children in Athletics and Level 1 Coaching Badge. Rory now assists our sprint coach with the U13 age group.

Armanni Antoine-Chager (12) was chosen for January’s award because;

 Armanni has shown commitment with her training and competition throughout the season and is very modest with her achievements. She also encourages our younger members to never give up.The award money was spent on 10 juniors attending the Children in Athletics coaching course  

Jay Andrews (14) was chosen for February’s award because;

Jay has been an outstanding athlete on and off the track this season. Although she had to cope with a few injuries it never dampened her spirit  

The award money was spent on 10 juniors attending the UK Athletics level 1 coaching course.

Frankie Conway ((16) was chosen for March’s award because;

Frankie is a fantastic role model for our younger members, he always gives one hundred percent to his training and competition. He voluntarily coaches our younger members on a weekly basis as well as supporting the club with new projects.

The award money was spent on Elevating Athletics Resource pack for our new junior coaches

 Daniel Penfold (16) was chosen for April’s award because;

 Of his outstanding commitment to his training and competition and to the enthusiasm and support he gives to our younger members at their training sessions.

The award money was spent on 4 x 4kg medicine balls-1 indoor shot-1 indoor hammer

 

Huy Vu (16) was chosen for Mays award because;

 Huy has been a member of Orion for 18 months and it that time he has never missed a training session and has fully supported our competition programme. He is always respectful to his coach and totally appreciates the support he receives form his coach and club.

Increased training leading to improved performance. Very modest and very encouraging to his younger athletes. Selected to represent Essex.

 

3 Training Pole Vaults.

 Jack Waller (12) was chosen for June’s award because;

 Jack had a few injuries last year but he kept his fitness at a good level by swimming. This season he has excelled at his sport and has been a great team member and very supportive to our younger members



Nathaniel Gylnn (14) July’s award


Reason for award: outstanding contribution to the club in both competition and training

The award money will be used for: cones small hurdles medicine ball and agility ladders


Joseph Gylnn (14) August award

Reason for award: commitment shown to training and competition and has gained respect from other club members for his determination to achieve his goal

The award money will be used for: pole volt


Jessica Kipps (15) September’s award

Reason for award: Jessica has been a outstanding team player she has shown determination when ever she competes for the club, she also voluntary coaches our under 11\'s every week 


The award money will be used for elevating athletics packs


Laura O'Conner (15) October’s award

Reason for award: Laura has always shown total commitment to both training and competing even though she is sometimes the only girl in her age group.    

Grant will be used for: coaching courses for our new junior coaches


Tommy Penfold (14) November’s award

Reason for award: Tommy has show maturity beyond his years and regularly voluntary coaches our younger members and has inspired them with his enthusiasm 

The grant will be used for: new sports hall equipment


Zachariah Hall (13) December’s award

Reason for award: After attending our annual presentation Zach promised that he would commit to competing in all our organised races, he has stuck to his word, Though he has found the races very challenging this has not stopped him from racing in the next race

The grant will be used for: 4 speed bounces for our sports hall athletics


Jack Petchey Award Winners  2009

Rebecca Kipps (18) January’s award

Reason for the award; Rebecca has been an Orion member since the age of 12.

Over the last 6 years she’s has shown total commitment to her training and competition.

Rebecca attended the UKA Level 1 and Children in Athletics coaching course at the age of 16.

Rebecca now regularly coaches our younger members and voluntary supports our Pentathlon day.

Rebecca also volunteered to team manager our under 17 women, her duties include, selecting a team for the Young Athletes League, organising their events and supporting these athletes on the day of competition

Jo Hadaway (20) Februarys award  

Reason for the award; since joining the club at the age of 11 Jo has been a valuable team member in her training and competition. Unfortunately at the age of 14 she had to with draw from competing because of a number of injuries.

However, she kept positive and trained when possible.

Jo voluntary supports our Primary school cross country champs and our Pentathlon day, her duties included; recording athletes at the finishing line, keeping athletes in order in the funnel and leading the young athletes to their events.

Jo also works in partnership with Rebecca and team manages the u17 women.

Jo now competes regular in the Southern Women’s League.

Amy Young (15) March award 

Reason for the award; Amy has proven to be a valuable team member both in training and competition.

Although she often finds the cross country courses challenging she always finishes the race for her team.

Although she sometimes lacks confidence in her ability to compete she is always willing to cover any event in the young athlete’s league just to gain points for her team.

Amy has also passed her Children in Athletics coaching course and is looking forward to coaching our younger members          

Melissa Timpson (15) Aprils award 

Reason for the award; like Amy Melissa has shown to be a valuable team member.

She regularly competes in our cross country races and has shown true determination to finish the race.

Melissa has recently taken up the hammer and triple jump just to gain valuable points for her team in the young athlete’s league.

Melissa also supports her dad in setting up the race course for our younger athletes to compete and then often marshals while our young members race.
