Quick Tips and references
Veritas Volume Manager (not complete) | I have always wanted to have my own web-page, but I never find time to create one. Anyway, I thought it would be a neat idea to put some of the reference notes, cheat sheets that I use on the web. That way I will be able to get to it from anywhere on the internet. So to help myself and those interested in similar tips, I will try and put a few I think are useful. About Me: My name is Rajiv
Gunja. I work for a telecommunications company in Silver Spring, Maryland. I work
as a System Architect / Engineer. I have varied experience when it comes
to my job. I graduated as an Electrical Engineer in 1994 and work a bit
in power-electronics. Being from India, it was quite hard to find a job
in my own field. So I tried my hand at programming and learnt C/C++.
After that, Computers kind of interested me a lot and I started reading
and experimenting with Unix and DOS on x86 platform. I started working
at an University as a Systems Administrator for Unix systems. Since it
was a Univ campus, I had access to varied OSes and books. Learnt a
great deal on Sun Solaris, Irix, OSF/1 and Xenix. By start of 1996, I
got introduced to Windows 95, but I didnt like it much as I had so much
freedom on Irix and OSF/1. Then came my first Linux OS, slackware. I
spent many days and nights playing with the Os and trying to run couple
of DOS games on it. Soon, I became very adicted to Linux. It was not
perfect, but it was way better than Windows 95. My next couple of jobs were quite interesting too. I got to work on a few more OSes, viz Solaris, SunOS, HP-UX, AIX, SCO, Linux, Windows NT Server, Banyan VINES, Cisco-IOS, BSD, FreeBSD and ConvexOS. I also got to dable in Lotus Notes Server Administration and Oracle administration. Of these, I enjoy being an admin and network engineer the most. |
Most of these tips are either scrapped from other website, whose address I do not have anymore or these are documents that I have written myself to help me at my job, past, present and future.
