MILLHAVEN Lifers Liaison Group:  The Millhaven Lifers Liaison Group of OPIRG welcomes you to attend its regular meetings concerning the Group's visits to Millhaven Penitentiary to speak with people who are serving life sentences there.  Our meetings take place on alternate Sundays at 6:30 pm at the Royal Oak (restaurant & bar)  161 Laurier Ave. East.  For more information, please email:  millhavenlifers@hotmail.com

MUGGY MONDAYS Serving Hot Drinks Every Monday!

Muggy Mondays is a University of Ottawa tradition! Coffee, tea or hot chocolate is served to anyone who brings their own reusable mug. We usually set up in the University Centre from about 8:30am and are finished at about 1pm. Come by with your reusable mug! If you’re interested in volunteering with us (it’s a lot of fun!) please send a message to therantingactivist@gmail.com.

OTTAWA MOVEMENT DEFENSE: Attend our Jail Solidarity, Prisoner and Court Support Workshop on Tuesday Jan. 25 from 7pm to 10 pm in the University Centre - Pride Centre room 215E.  This workshop focuses on doing jail solidarity - ensuring that friends and family that have been arrested are as safe as we can make them, supporting prisoners, and providing court support for defendants who are currently going through through the criminal injustice system.  We will have speakers from Books 2 Prisoners, Exile Books and Ottawa Movement Defense.

NON-VIOLENCE NOW:  Self-Defense for People with Disabilities

This is a workshop that is done by and for people with disabilities. Charles Johnstone is an experienced mixed martial artist who also has a disability and has years of experience teaching self-defense to people with special needs. Offered Wednesday Jan 26 from 4:00pm to 5:30 pm in the Martial Arts Room in Montpetit Hall, 125 University Private.

FAIR VOTE action group is part of an event during OPIRG weeks.  On Monday Jan. 31st there will be an information night and fundraiser for a court challenge of the first-past-the-post voting system before the Quebec Court of Appeal. INDIGENOUS PEOPLES SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT OF OTTAWA (IPSMO):  Our Decolonial Study Group organizes readings, workshops and film showings to broaden our understanding and analysis of indigenous struggles for decolonization, social justice and revolution.  Our next study group will be a presentation by David Welsh on the Algonquin and Eastern Ontario, and it will be followed by a group discussion.
