I I love being connected on AT&T's 3G Network Anywhere with my IBM Thinkpad T23
and AT&T LG VU

You will need a USB cable sold at many AT&T stores and at Amazon.com

Out of the box OpenSuse 11.1 didn't configure an autoconnection to the LG USB Modem. To get mine working I added a text file named    usbserial    in   /etc/modprobe.d/ that says
       options usbserial vendor=0x1004 product=0x6000

then used file manager superuser mode to add my computer username to that file.
In Yast.

nm-tool shows
- Device: /dev/ttyUSB1 ----------------------------------------------------------------
  Type:              Mobile Broadband (GSM)
  Driver:            usbserial_generic
  State:             disconnected
  Default:           no

  Capabilities:
    Supported:       yes

- Device: /dev/ttyUSB0 --------------------
--------------------------------------------
  Type:              Mobile Broadband (GSM)
  Driver:            usbserial_generic
  State:             connected
  Default:           yes

  Capabilities:

Which means the USB modem in the phone is using /devtty/USB0 to connect to the 3G
network.

You'll also need to add your computer username to  uucp   and  dialout
in YAST user and group managment.
Then right click knetworkmanager, left click /devtty/USB0 and you should be connected.
I run Winoze XP as a virtualbox 3.02 guest, under Settings>USB>
the virtualbox XP Guest connects securely via the AT&T LG Usb Modem.
