OpenEYE invitation

Dear Visitor

As you may know, OpenEYE has been running a campaign against the potentially damaging aspects of the Legal Framework of the EYFS. When Human Rights issues were raised in the campaign, the DCSF seems to have been warned by its lawyers, because an Exemption path was opened up in August 2008. Needless to say, the application is shrouded in obscurity, torturous in its process and designed to put everyone off applying.

OpenEYE is determined to expose any shortcomings the exemption process has and to create a pathway which others can more easily follow.

Although our legal advice is that the exemption option weakens the Human Rights case against the imposition of the Learning and Development goals of the EYFS, the conduct of the Exemption process is important.

We have a lawyer who has given us free support. He points out that any Appeal against a refusal to allow exemption will require, for best outcome, careful tracking of the exemption process if it is to be a strong test case.

We ask whether you would be willing to apply for Exemption from the Learning and Development goals and the assessments that go with them, in co-ordination with us. We would give support and advice and follow your correspondence/conversations with your Local  Authority/Ofsted/QCA/DCSF,  whichever becomes involved.

Would you be willing to consider this? If so, please contact us so we could discuss it further.  Of course, we would see that your privacy and confidentiality were maintained.

                                 Thank you,

Graham Kennish
