5.3. Social

We have seen that often a vision of focal point holds a society together. If open
architecture vision is sharing, are the people demanding it? It doesn’t seems so
: most people want protection, security much more than freedom and mobil-
ity.  Some young Japanese are even more extreme and never get out of their
rooms (Hikikomori, 引き籠もり), instead they bring the entire universe inside
their rooms. In a way Hikikomori is open architecture inside out. In order
to challenge actual politics of construction, anarchitects work with the
population, and instead of making a 1/20 foamcore architectural model,
anarchitects build at scale one and modify the architecture form population
feedback. Going toward open architecture is a challenge, we need rewards
at every step of progress. At some point people might start to like to decide
for themselves?
Once people have power to create a produce, will they finally let them-selves explore their own deeper fears and desires?
