It is with great sadness that we have decided to cancelled this years Red Bird Shoe Box Mission trip. With all the flooding we feel that a lot of our areas have enough to do. Please support all help agencies in you area for the flood victims. We hope that we will be able to do the mission in 2012. Thanks for your support in the past and hopefully again in the future. A little history of the mission. It was started about ten years ago when a lady from Worcester, NY was there on a mission with presents for the children. The children were all getting presents but the parents got nothing. The next year she got people to make up basic personal care boxes for the parents. She took about 100 boxes the first year and it has grown since then. We rent a truck and take things down. Last year we took down 557 boxes, 75 bags of clothing and cleaning supplies. The area is rated as one of the ten poorest counties in the USA. |
