The young Hmong girl in this picture was one of approximately 40,000 Hmong Refugees who lived at the Wat Tham Krabok Refugee Camp in Saraburi, Thailand.

It is unknown if she was among the 15,000 Hmong Refugees who were approved for resettlement to the U.S. from the camp in 2004.

ABOUT US

My husband Eric Nuechterlein and I visited the Hmong Refugee Camp at Wat Tham Krabok, Thailand in 2004 with our close Thai Friend, Khun Cowboy.

We distributed toys to the Hmong children and were so touched by the children and their parents ~ they were so grateful and thanked us profusely for such a small gesture.

We will never forget the Hmong Refugees that we met on our visits to the camp, nor their enduring spirit.

Four years ago, I promised a Hmong Elder that I would commit myself and others to bringing an end to what has sadly become known as The Hmong Tragedy. The heartfelt support for the One Hmong Voice Coalition has given me hope that united with others, we can succeed in this mission.

Please feel free to contact me anytime for more information about the One Hmong Voice Coalition.

I am a photojournalist based in Denver, CO and Thailand. I am half Thai and half Italian and currently residing in both the U.S. and in Thailand.

Thank you for your kind support!

ONE HMONG VOICE COALITION

The next planning meeting for the
National Mobilization for Immigration Reform and Hmong Freedom Rally at the Democratic National Convention in Denver is this WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2008.

Please join us for a community meeting at the Hmong Mennonite Church for more information about this rally/protest. This is an excellent and a one-time opportunity to take advantage of the Democratic National Convention.

The meeting will take place at:

Wednesday, August 20th - 7:00pm
Westminster United Methodist Church (Hmong Mennonite Church)
3585 W. 76th Avenue
Westminster, CO 80030

The One Hmong Voice Coalition has been created to symbolically continue the actual Hmong Freedom March
of 5,400 Lao Hmong asylum-seekers, who sought to gain international support for their plight on June 20, 2008. Sadly, the Hmong Freedom March from the Petchabun Refugee Camp to the United Nations Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand was immediately halted by the Thai Third Army under the direct orders of Thailand’s Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej.

Mission Statement:

The goal of the One Hmong Voice Coalition is to UNITE all Hmong Activists worldwide, Hmong Student Groups and everyone who believes that all Hmong people have the “inalienable rights” to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” to join forces to end the forced repatriations
of Lao Hmong refugees back to Laos and to bring an immediate end to the Hmong genocide in Laos.

Never doubt that ONE HMONG VOICE spoken with truth, commitment
and strength has the power to end the Hmong Tragedy.

In the tradition of Gandhi’s non-violent "Satyagraha" (truth force) campaign, this coalition will succeed by using Gandhi's principal concept of "Satyagraha"; which goes beyond mere "passive resistance"; by adding the Sanskrit word "Agraha" (resolution) to "Satya" (Truth).

STILL A SECRET WAR

Scattered groups of ethnic Hmong have hidden in the remote mountains of Laos for more than 30 years, afraid to come out. Many have not seen the modern world, and exist with little food, scavenging in the jungle. The CIA trained and funded many Hmong hill tribes in Laos from 1961 to 1973 to fight communism. When America withdrew from the conflict most Hmong were left alone to face the might of the invading North Vietnamese Army. The Royal Lao Government fell to the communists and many Hmong became outcasts in the country they fought to defend.

IN THE MIDST OF IT ALL,
THE LAST HMONG WARRIOR STANDS TALL

He is out there in the jungle,
waiting for U.S. to care,
waiting for us to rescue him
waiting for us to fall…
Far from our hazy vision to one empowered
VISION

to UNITE with ONE HMONG VOICE.

To Stand tall
above
the blood soaked Laotian ground,
where a river of tears
begs for mercy
from a heartless
regime and an apathetic world.

Will you stand tall
and
Hear the Warrior’s sacred call?

To his brother Hmong he prays,
for better and brighter days,
for Freedom from death,
starvation and deprivation.
For “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

Please don't wait too long
To heed his final call.
They are dying,
while we wait for someone else to act…

Hunted like animals in the jungle,
lingering in Thai jails and refugee camps;
Hmong children, mothers, fathers, grandfathers, your relatives…

It is our duty to save them.
It is our Karma.
Their fate is in our hands.

The end for the Hmong people in Laos is near.
The time to end the Hmong Tragedy is
NOW
Their homeland is a jungle hell,
more than 3 decades after the war,
the genocide continues...
It is within our power to Save them.
