How to Use our Maps

Q:   I am outside the calamity areas.  I have friends/family/loved ones in calamity areas.  I cannot contact them.  I would like to know what is happening to them.

A: In rare instances, we manage to get in touch with both parties and are able to relay information.  In most cases, though, you would have to rely on imperfect data.  As a real life example, last night, we got a message citing shoulder-high floods in 110 E. dela Paz St, San Roque, Marikina City.  Since my parents live a few houses away, (# 106), it is reasonable to assume the same conditions prevailed at home as well.

Q: I am outside the calamity areas.  I have friends/family/loved ones in calamity areas.  I have contacted them and they wanted me to pass on information or requests.

A: This is very well suited to our mission.  Once our volunteers post your message on the map, relief groups (we presume they have web access) become aware of your loved ones' situation and they can then act accordingly.

Q: I am in a calamity area.  Fortunately, I have electricity and internet access.

A: You are our perfect partners in this endeavor.  From time to time, you can feed us updates on the situation in your area.  Again, the info you provide will be invaluable to relief efforts.

Q: I am in a calamity area.  I have no electricity and no working phone.

A: Just hang tight there.  Chances are, someone in your neighborhood managed to get out word about your situation, to someone outside the calamity-hit areas (within the country or overseas).  Once we receive reports from your neighbor, we will post them so that relief groups become aware of your situation and need.

Q: I am part of a relief group.  I have electricity and internet access.

A: We hope you make good use of our facility and the wealth of information to plan and execute your efforts.  Godspeed.

Q: I may be in or out of a calamity area and have the ample resources to help.  What do i do?

A: You can consult maps provided by our partners which list or plot the locations of donation centers.  Occasionally, we provide NEWS ROAD type of reports for major roads, which you can use to determine or guess whether you can reach the nearest donation center or not.
