Vedanta Lecture Series
From July 27th to 30th, HSNC is presenting a lecture series on Vedanta by Swami Shivender Nagar

What is Vedanta?
Vedanta is a systematic and formulated knowledge of life and living. Vedanta means culmination of knowledge. It is the knowledge which reveals your real SELF. With this knowledge you attain absolute peace and happiness.
Vedanta also explains how to meet the challenges of the world. It gives you the technique of action applicable to all walks of life. It can be practically applied at home, in office, in the streets, everywhere. Following this technique you command success and prosperity in the world.
About Swamiji
This will be Swamiji’s seventh visit to the Triangle in as many years. In the past he has addressed gatherings at the Hindu Bhavan and at NC State University.
Swami Shivender Nagar has studied Vedanta at the prestigious Vedanta Academy at Lonavala, near Mumbai, India, under the internationally acclaimed Swami Parthasarthy. He conducts regular Vedanta classes in New Delhi and has given talks at several world venues including London School of Economics and at the United Nations, Geneva.

Youth Lectures
In 2008, the advisory committee mailed out surveys to HSNC Members and several respondents requested to have an hour long Sunday worship & explanation of Hindu Rituals. Based on the input provided by you, we are organizing the lecture (in English) on Hinduism for our youths.
The lecture takes place on the first Sunday of each month in the HSNC Temple Hall from 11:30AM to 12:30PM. All community youth are invited to attend this lecture. Lunch is provided.

Garba/ Bhangra Night
On Feb. 27th, 2009 we held a Garba and Bhangra Night at the HSNC main hall. The aim of this program was to introduce Om Squad to the high school and college community. The night was a great success. Garba music was by Sargam Group and DJ Rang provided the music for Bhangra. No one expected the attendance to be so high; whereas we had expected about 50 people, there were easily over double that number present Friday night.  The participation and the constant surge of energy present throughout the night was incredible. There were food and drinks for those who wanted them, and at the end of it all we were all thouroughly exhausted. If this event was to judge the success of Om Squad then we can confidently say that this group has a bright future in this growing community.
